Thank you my friends
Having 54 surveys already completed, I wanted to say thank you to my friends, blog followers and all the mothers who have graciously participated in my study. I thoroughly appreciate your input!!
My Mommy Is... was inspired by conversations with my then 3 year old (B1) about going back to work after a year maternity leave with my second babe (B2). When my son said to me "I don't want you to be a Professor, I just want you to be my Mommy" I knew I needed to seriously consider how I was going to negotiate my work/family life. Years later, this interest has led me to research women's experiences of mothering and the ways in which their lives and identities are multidimensional - within and beyond motherhood.
I still wonder how do my children see me and understand who I am (i.e. my mommy is...). What ability do they have to see beyond my motherhood? To what extent do I help/hinder them?
I hope to encourage other Mommies, especially those with small children, to reflect upon our multidimensional identities through this blog.

Enjoyed meeting you, Joanne yesterday for the Mothering Contexts interview.
It was fabulous to take the time to reflect on being a mother over the past 16 years. It was a great inventory of change and growth...
And thanks for treating me to coffee!
what a great study. love the conversations it has sparked:) conversations with you and others.
